Beware of Unauthorized Hotel Solicitations Scammers may call or email EMS World Expo attendees, faculty, and exhibitors, claiming to represent EMS World Expo or EMS World Expo vendors, and encourage participants to book rooms using fake promotion companies like “Exhibitors Housing Services” or “Convention Hotel Services.” They may know a lot about our meeting and may even alter the caller ID to make it look like EMS World Expo is calling. Those targeted by these scammers are told housing is filling up or almost sold out and rooms should be booked with them immediately. Neither EMS World Expo, HMP, or our host hotels will ever call you to solicit hotel reservations. Any legitimate message to exhibitors will direct you to our Travel & Hotel Information page, where participants will use secure links to our approved hotel block. Please note that rooms booked through any other source are at your own risk.
If you receive emails or calls regarding discounted hotel accommodations for EMS World Expo, please disregard these offers and forward the information to kmclaughlin@hmpglobal.com so we can investigate and help prevent further solicitations.
EMS World Expo /HMP has been sending cease and desist orders but as soon as one goes out, another email solicitation (under a different name) appears. This is an ongoing issue faced by meeting organizers worldwide. We encourage you to respond to these solicitations with a demand that you and your company be taken off their e-mail list immediately. If the e-mails continue, the Federal Trade Commission advises that you forward unwanted or deceptive messages to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov and file a complaint with the FTC here. |
